A note to my babies

Dear Lucy and Gray,

When I was a little girl you're all I dreamed about. I knew from the start that my huge goal in life was to be a momma. I played with my cabbage patch dolls for hours and hours reading to them, changing their clothes, cooking for them with my easy bake oven, wiping their little plastic faces off when they were done and tucking them in every night.

In high school I jumped at the chance to help teach elementary age kids afternoon art. I loved being around them and all of their creativity. Shortly after graduation I took a job doing visuals for Baby Gap and Gap Kids. I was totally immersed in sweet baby clothes every day and I got paid to do it! I even bought a few things from time to time and put them away for you.

In college I met your daddy, we fell in love and became engaged my senior year.  I'll never forget the look on the professors face in the wood shop when I told him I couldn't wait to get married and have babies! Such a retro way of thinking in a progressive art school type environment but I didn't care.  I taught littles at summer art camp through the university and began saving my lesson plans in hopes of one day soon being able to share them with you!

Now that you're both here I'm so grateful for you and all that you've taught me in such a short period of time. You've shown me the importance of selflessness and patients. (Although I still have work to do some days.) You've filled daddy and I's heart full of so much joy and laughter. One of my favorite things to watch is when you make each other laugh. It usually starts with you Lucy making a funny face or noise at Gray and you both burst into giggles.

You two are the reason I'm blessed to celebrate Mothers Day so thank you for making my dreams come true. I'll love you both forever and ever (to the moon and back, Lu)!

Love,
Mommy
xoxo

Sarah
